River Nidd – Rock Farm

Rock Farm

Travel out of Knaresborough on the B6165 towards Ripley and at the roundabout approaching Ripley take the 1st exit onto the A61 towards Killinghall. After 200 meters turn off to the left into the lay – by signposted as Killinghall Business Park. Usually there is room to park in the lay – by. Follow the cycle path downstream. The path has a tarmac surface making it easy walking, especially if using a trolley.

A steady walk for 5 or 6 minutes brings you to the upper limit (peg 17). Look out for the two trees on the right with red tape around the trunks. Walk to the right diagonally between these trees towards the stream entering the river.

Peg 18 is 75 meters further along the path at the end of the metal railings.

Another 100 meters along the path brings you to the signed entrance to the riverbank and pegs 19 to 27. Opposite to this entrance are the steps leading up through the wood, across a field to a small car park. Parking is for up to 6 cars which members can use. The field can become very boggy when wet.

  • Pegs 19 to 22inc are in the wood.
  • Pegs 23 to 26inc are in the field.
  • Peg 27 is 25 meters into the wood.
